Reports on tower radiation are concerning

-

AT&T, jointly with St. Luke Presbyterian Church and Presbytery of the Redwoods, is seeking a county permit for a nine-antennae 4G LTE tower at St. Luke in San Rafael.

The details are online at bit. ly/3gI7svw.

I hope the church leaders take their cue from the owner of Spotless Cleaners in San Anselmo. He turned down an application for a similar tower, putting the health and safety of his staff and neighbors before profit and convenience.

There are numerous people and groups who frequent the church facility each day, along with the maintenance staff. Their exposure to emissions could be significant. And the neighbors have already weighed in vociferously against this tower.

I hope the church leaders will also review California Assembly Bill 57 which exempts fire stations from having transmission devices on their facilities. I have read reports that the Los Angeles International Firefighters Union cited health effects including headaches, memory problems, insomnia, disorientation and anxiety following installation of towers on their stations.

I believe that this is what happens when people are exposed over time to this type of radiation. Nearby residents and members of the congregation are right to be concerned. For the well-being of these neighbors and parishioners, church leaders should withdraw this application or the Marin County Planning Commission should deny it.
