-

Sara Jane Miseveth passed away on December 6, 2020 from complications related to COVID-19.

Sara was raised in Rhode Island and graduated from the University of Connecticut (UCONN). She went on to receive her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois and subsequently established her chiropractic practice in San Rafael, California, where she practiced for decades. She was a consummate healer and her chiropractic practice suited her well in that regard.

Sara’s care for her community went beyond her practice. She was a frequent volunteer at the Glide Memorial Church, a prominently liberal church in San Francisco, and often treated patients for free when in need. She was a lover of the arts and culture and was a frequent visitor to theaters and concerts.

She was a lover of Black Russian Terriers. As a hearing-impaired woman, she was never without a faithful aide dog - always named Nicholas - by her side. A passionate traveler, she explored the world, experiencing new cultures, foods, and fashions. True to her giving spirit, she always came back with gifts, souvenirs, and stories for her beloved friends. Always up for adventure, she would go to great lengths to experience all the culinary delights in her community. Whether it was a soul food restaurant, street food from a stall in Chinatown, or crabs on the docks of San Francisco, Sara loved to eat and meet the people who prepared and loved the food too.

Sara was a skilled seamstress and milliner. Whether it was finding a Hermes wrap or a Chanel bag at the thrift shop or using her skills to make fabulous Issey Miyake fashions, Sara could always be counted on to show up in style. She was always impeccably dressed and carried herself with grace and poise.

Sara is survived by a vast network of friends around the country and the world. She will be greatly missed by all the lives that she touched. Donations to your local aid dog association in Sara’s memory are appreciated.
