Super Bowl teams will arrive later than usual

-

This unprecedented NFL season will also have a unique ending.

Rather than a full week of fanfare featuring the two teams playing in Super Bowl LV on Feb. 7, the two participants will not be allowed to travel to Tampa until Friday, Feb. 5 at the earliest, according to ESPN.

The traditional media day and all other interviews throughout the week, including postgame, will be done virtually, the league announced earlier in the week.

Super Bowl LV will be held at Raymond James Stadium, with some 22,000 in attendance.

EAGLES HIRE COLTS OC SIRIANNI AS HEAD COACH » Three days after choosing Nick Sirianni to be their new coach, the Eagles made it official.

The team announced Sirianni’s hiring on Sunday, posting on Twitter a photo of Sirianni wearing an Eagles visor and the caption: “Copped ourselves a head coach.”

Sirianni was the offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts the past three seasons. He worked under coach Frank Reich, who was offensive coordinator in Philadelphia when the Eagles won the Super Bowl three years ago.

Sirianni, 39, previously served as an assistant coach with the Chiefs and Chargers.

The Eagles fired Doug Pederson following a 4-11-1 season, less than three years after he led the team to the franchise’s only Super Bowl title.

Sirianni worked with Andrew Luck, Jacoby Brissett and Philip Rivers in Indianapolis and coached Rivers in San Diego and Matt Cassel in Kansas City. Now he’s tasked with figuring out how to get Carson Wentz back to his 2017 form. Wentz finished third in NFL MVP voting that season and helped the Eagles earn the No. 1 seed in the NFC. He tore two knee ligaments in Week 14 and watched Nick Foles lead the team to victory over New England and earn Super Bowl MVP honors.

OLSEN ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT » Tight end Greg Olsen picked a fine time to announce his retirement as an NFL player after 14 seasons. Olsen, 35, publicly revealed his decision during FOX’s pregame show ahead of Sunday’s NFC Championship game. He will join the network as a game analyst.

Olsen was a Pro Bowl selection for the Panthers on three occasions (2014-16), gaining 1,000-plus yards each season.

A 2007 first-round draft pick by the Bears, Olsen spent his final season in Seattle, making 24 catches and scoring once. Overall, he had 742 receptions for 8,683 yards and 60 touchdowns.

LIONS SET TO HIRE LYNN TO RUN OFFENSE » The Lions are hiring former Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn as their offensive coordinator, multiple media outlets reported.

The Lions’ staff has undergone significant change of late. Former New Orleans assistant head coach Dan Campbell was named as Detroit’s head coach and Saints secondary coach Aaron Glenn was tabbed as the Lions’ defensive coordinator.
