As the medical group administrator for the Kaiser Permanent eM edi cal Center in

San Rafael, I would like to join fellow members of the leadership team, including. Dr. Naveen Kumar, Tarek Salaway and Kim Colonnelli, in celebrating the unsung heroes and dedicated community supporters from the San Rafael City School District and Terra Linda High School.

The TLHS family includes teachers, essential workers, parents, students and student athletes.

Kaiser Permanente remains unwavering in its commitment to getting as many vaccines in arms as our weekly allocation from the state allows. Earlier this year when our original vaccination center soon became too small, we turned to the leadership teams of TLHS to allow us to use the school’s gymnasium close to the Medical Center.

TLHS responded warmly, offering KP the gym for 60 days, with renewals if the decision to reopen the gym for student activities was delayed. In the spirit of community partnership, more than 60,000 vaccinations were given to people living in or outside Marin to both KP members and the community.

TL HS made a huge difference in sharing their perfect space. KP salutes the TLHS community. Its amazing contribution helped Marin County move to the orange tier, allowing businesses to open their doors and children to go back to school. Most importantly, TLHS helped to give hope to those we vaccinated. We know now that indoor sports will be resuming soon as an essential sign of our economic recovery. KP will be relocating its vaccination team to the Marin County Fairgrounds.

We hope TLHS is proud and rightly celebrates their part in building a stronger community during the pandemic.
