Runs at premium as Terra Linda defeats Branson

Starter Kyle Lord pitched 4.1 innings for the Terra Linda High baseball team on Tuesday, combining with two relievers on a two-hit shutout as the Trojans defeated Branson, 1-0.

Zachary Coleman and Christophe­r Delangis kept Branson off the scoreboard for the final 2.2 innings, with Delangis striking out five in his two innings of work.

Sophomore Leon Cervantes drew a basesloade­d walk to drive in the lone run of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Lord and JD Monge had two hits apiece for TL, which had five as a team.

• Van Larson and Carl Schmidt had three hits apiece to help guide Marin Catholic to a 7-3 win against San Rafael on Tuesday. The duo combined to pitch all seven innings for MC, with Larson going 5.1 innings to earn the victory. MC broke the game open with a four-run third inning, extending to a 6-0 lead. San Rafael responded with a run in the bottom of the third and two more in the fifth but could get no closer. Jake Verweil had three hits for the Bulldogs and Max Shilstone drove in a pair of runs.

• Redwood piled up 18 hits en route to a 16-1 win against Novato. Michael Bender had three hits — including a home run — drove in three runs and scored three times for the Giants. Luca Bove also drove in three for Redwood. Tyler Blair struck out six in four innings of work as Redwood held Novato to two hits.

• Tucker Bougie struck out nine hitters in five innings of work to help Tam pick up an 11-1 victory against San Marin.

The Mustangs took a 1-0 lead on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning but it was all Tam from there. The Red-tailed Hawks scored runs in the second through sixth innings, getting two RBIs apiece from Jake Ferguson and Jake Moore.

Prep softball

Megan Murphy struck out 12 batters in a complete-game effort to lead San Rafael to an 8-2 win against Drake. Murphy allowed four hits by Drake and countered with two of her own at the plate. Bella Bowler and Hannah DeOchoa also had two hits apiece for San Rafael with Ochoa driving in three runs.

San Rafael scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie then added four insurance runs in the sixth.

Girls golf

Sofia Aldridge took medalist honors with a 2-over-par 38 at Peacock Gap to pace Marin Catholic in a 177-190 win against Branson. Anna Han had a 45 to lead the Bulls. MC capped off an unbeaten season with the victory.

Prep badminton

San Domenico got victories from Stanley Ma, Hank Hu, Eric Liu, Alastair Kouzi, Cici Lin and Scott Wang to open the season with a 6-4 victory against Convent/Stuart Hall.

Boys tennis

Jonah Richards picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles to lead San Domenico to a 3-2 win against Drew. Alex Constantin/Parker Sadzeck and Drake Fruhauf/Diallo Garcia also secured wins and Nos.1 and 2 doubles, respective­ly.
