Upon returning to California, they settled in Novato, where they joined the Novato Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Alice became Worthy Matron of the Chapter in 1980, and she was Deputy Grand Matron in 1985. She received the Service Award in 1996 in recognition of her dedication to the Order. Alice was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 70 years.
