Dargan, Tam baseball blanks San Marin to remain unbeaten

Alex Dargan pitched 6.2 shutout innings with five strikeouts to lead the Tam High baseball team to a 4-0 win over San Marin on Thursday. Dargan allowed theonlytwo­hitstheMus­tangs (4-2) had on the day.

The Red-tailed Hawks (7-0)wereledoff­ensivelyby Tyler Buxton (1 for 1, two RBIs), Matteo Bellisimo (1 for 4, RBI), Jake Ferguson (2 for 4) and Tucker Bougie (1 for 4, run).

• Branson got a strong performanc­e from Will Ashley at the plate and on the mound as the Bulls knocked off Terra Linda 8-3. Ashley went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and struck out three in 4.1 innings on the mound. He also allowed three hits and three runs — including a home run to Chris De Langis, who went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to pace the Trojans (1-8) — but got plenty of support from his team to help Branson improve to 3-7. struck out 10 and allowed six runs (two earned) in 5.2 innings on the bump for Terra Linda.

Girls lacrosse

Redwood defeated 12-1 on Thursday. The Giants dominated the draw, led by Harper Glass’ six controls that led to 11 firsthalf goals. Maya Mihara and Charlotte DeFrino led the scoring for the Giants with three goals apiece.

Prep badminton

San Domenico improved to 2-0 on the season with an 8-2 win over Lick-Wilmerding. Winners for SD were: Hank Hu (15-5, 15-4), Eric Liu (15-6, 15-5), Alastair Kouzi (15-8, 15-11), Cici Lin (15-4, 15-2), Scoot Wang (155, 15-5), Jamelle Namocatcat (15-5, 15-6), Zofia Pawlowska (15-10, 15-8) and Mai Da Silva (15-4, 12-15, 15-5)

Girls Tennis

Tam kept its unblemishe­d record intact with a 5-2 win over Marin Catholic on Wednesday. Tam, which is 7-0 on the season, swept the four singles matches, led by No.1 Jamilah Karah’s 6-1, 6-1 win over Mina Ahmadi. Marin Catholic was able to win two doubles matches thanks to the efforts from No. 1 Katie Miller and Sofia Guera, who beat Genevieve Durham and Alyssa Broad 6-4, 6-3, and No. 3 Olivia Olson and Carly Knopf, who won 6-3, 6-3.

Prep softball

Annabel Teperson struck out 11 in a complete-game effort and Kilee Koch hit a grand slam as Marin Catholic beat San Marin 10-1 on Wednesday.

Prep swimming

The Tam boys and girls teams both wrapped up undefeated seasons with wins over Marin Catholic on Wednesday. The Tam girls, who finished the year 6-0, won 120-65 and were led by double winners Alessia Root (200 freestyle and 100 backstroke) and Abby Moll (50 and 100 free). The Wildcats were led by double winner Holly Tarantino (200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.)

The Tam boys, who also finished 6-0, won 13444 and were led by Nicky Glenn (50 free and 100 free) and Marre Gatnar (200 free and 100 back). The boys 400 freestyle relay team of Gatnar, Justin Wong, Glenn and Noah Erickson also set a school record of 3 minutes, 12.63 seconds.

College baseball

College of Marin dropped its third straight game to open the 2021 season, falling 12-6 to Sierra College on Wednesday. Redwood grad Jack Morken went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs while Dionathan Cornett went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Anthony Pomilia went 2 for 5 with a home run, double, RBI and two runs to pace the Mariners (0-3). Sierra College (3-0) broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning and used seven pitchers to record 14 strikeouts.
