Tam baseball rallies past San Marin to stay unbeaten,

The Tam High baseball team dug itself out of an early hole, scoring the winning run in the top of the seventh to rally past San Marin, 6-5, on Friday afternoon.

The Red-tailed Hawks trailed 5-0 after the first inning, which featured three walks and a pair of hits for the Mustangs. Tam answered back with four runs in the top of the second inning and the score remained 5-4 Mustangs until the seventh.

Tam took advantage of a couple of errors to push two more runs across the plate and grab the lead. Tommy Flynn pitched a scoreless seventh as part of 3.2 innings of work to pick up the win.

Leadoff hitter Jake Ferguson had three hits to lead Tam (8-0). San Marin was held hitless after the first inning.

• Branson scored 10 runs in the first inning but had to hold off a furious Terra Linda rally in a 15-13 win. TL trailed 10-1 after the first inning but scored four times in the third and fourth innings to make a game of it. The Trojans scored three more times in the bottom of the seventh. Jaiden Arcuri had three hits, two RBIs and scored three runs to lead the Bulls. Kyle Lord had two hits, two RBIs and scored three runs for TL.

• Charlie Welch piled up four hits and knocked in a pair of runs to help Redwood to a 13-1 win against Novato. The Giants broke open a close game by scoring five times in the fifth and sixth innings. Welch, Ben Cohen, Sam Rice, Michael Bender and Ethan Crawford all drove in two runs apiece for Redwood.

• Marin Academy was limited to two hits during an 8-0 loss against Stuart Hall on Friday. Jacob Young and Renn Summersgil­l had the hits for the Wildcats.

• Connor Liang had a pair of hits and scored the lone run of the game for San Domenico in an 11-1 loss against Urban on Thursday night.

Prep softball

Rose Malen pitched five innings of shutout ball to lead Marin Catholic to a 10-0 victory against Windsor. Sammy Horn filled up the box score with two hits, two walks, three steals, a pair of RBIs and three runs scored. Lauren Osheroff, Annabel Teperson and Kiera DeLacy each had two hits for MC (4-0).

Prep swimming

Tereza Shea and Kayla Yu were double winners as the Terra Linda girls closed out their season with a 109-54 victory against San Rafael. Shea won the 50 and 100 frees while Yu took the 500 free and the 100 butterfly. Catherine Fahrner, Kira Rodriguez and Sydney Hellar also had wins for TL.

The TL boys were also victorious, getting two wins apiece from Danny Cribbin (50, 100 free) and Merrick Jasko (200 free, 100 breast) in a 99-54 win over the Bulldogs.

Girls tennis

Jamilah Karah won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, capping off a dominant season for both herself and her team as Tam defeated Branson 9-0 to complete an undefeated season. The Red-tailed Hawks (80) won 53 of 56 matches over the course of the season, dropping just seven sets in the process. Katie Bulger, Gabriella Plonowski and Monica Adams also had singles victories for the Red-tailed Hawks.

• Georgia Harms posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles to lead Redwood to a 7-0 win against Drake. Erin Roddy, Charlotte Estus and Gabriela Rosenfeld also had singles victories for the Giants.

Boys tennis

Gavin Kennedy picked up a win at No. 3 singles, taking the third-set super tiebreaker 11-9 to lift San Domenico to a 3-2 win against Stuart Hall. The doubles teams of Alex Constantin/Zuzu Bikahi and Charlie Aspatore/Parker Sadezeck had the other two wins for the Panthers.

• Marin Academy lost 5-0 against Lick-Wilmerding on Friday.

College baseball

College of Marin picked up its first victory of the season, taking the second game of a doublehead­er, 10-6, against Sierra. Luigi Albano-Dito delivered a two-run double during a seven-run sixth inning for the Mariners. AlbanoDito had three hits on the day.

Trent Free picked up the win, striking out seven in 3.1 innings. COM (1-4) was unable to capitalize on a gem by Matt Lozovoy in the first game, falling 1-0 in seven innings. Lozovoy pitched six innings and allowed one run on three hits.

College softball

Peyton Mott and Lauren Lapinid drove in runs in the first inning and pitcher Shelby Keltner took over from there as Dominican University won the first game of a doublehead­er, 2-1, against Academy of Art.

Keltner pitched all seven innings, allowing four hits and one earned run to pick up the victory. Vanessa Porto, Alyssa Ramirez and Mott had two hits apiece in Game 1 for the Penguins (12-14). The Penguins dropped the second game, 6-4, despite getting three hits apiece from Porto and Celeste Salas.

College volleyball

Rebecca Smith had 15 assists and nine digs to help Dominican close out its season with a 3-0 victory against Academy of Art. Catherine Johnson had a team-high eight kills in the 25-20, 25-16, 25-20 victory.
