San Anselmo’s Dylan Woodhead scored two goals, his first in the Olympics, as the USA men’s water polo team defeated South Africa 20-3 on Monday.

Woodhead, a 2016 Drake High grad, scored his first goal in a decisive second period for Team USA that made it 10-1. He found the net for the second time later in the third period.

Team USA is now 2-0 and sits atop its group for pool play. Its next game against Italy will be broadcast live at 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

The US Men’s Senior National team defeated Italy 10-8 in the semifinals of the FINA World Cup in late June.

The U.S. is out of medal contention after finishing fifth in its qualifying heat on Saturday. A time for the rescheduled event has not yet been announced.
