MC girls volleyball brilliant in semifinal vs. Archie Williams

Brooke Brilliant had a team-high 12 kills to help the top-seeded Marin Catholic girls volleyball team post a 25-20, 25-13, 2514 victory against Archie Williams in Wednesday’s MCAL semifinal.

The Wildcats are set to host No. 3 Branson in the championsh­ip game at 7 p.m. on Friday. Grace Oliva added nine kills for the Wildcats (24-2) while Kelsey Ramsey added six kills. Julianna Treadway had seven kills and 11 digs. Libero Bella McGirr posted team highs in digs (18) and aces (3).

Girls water polo

Marin Academy avoided the rain as the Wildcats played to a 15-6 victory under the roof at Berkeley High School on Thursday. Gabby Reichley led Marin Academy with six goals, while Rachel Kelly, Georgia Starrett and Abby Perry each netted two goals.

The Wildcats (14-6) made the day easier for goalkeeper Aurora Robathan-Wu by taking a 5-0 lead in the first period. Robathan-Wu was solid throughout with nine saves. Jesse Ringness frustrated Berkeley with three steals.

“This was a good team win with lots of contributi­ons across the pool,” MA coach Jamie Collie said.

Marin Academy wraps up the regular season against Pinole Valley at Contra Costa College on Friday.

• Senior Ella Brait turned in a stellar effort to lead San Rafael past Novato, 12-5, on Thursday as the Bulldogs wrapped up the regular season. Brait tallied five goals and two assists, while junior Estelle Engelskirc­hen had three goals and two assists. Junior goalkeeper handled seven saves for San Rafael.

• Giants goalie Sofia Frushtick had nine saves as Redwood topped Terra Linda, 7-6, in the Giants’ last game of the regular league season on Wednesday. The two teams will meet again next week in a MCAL semifinal game at Archie Williams High School.

Boys water polo

San Rafael edged Novato, 15-12, behind a strong showing from the Bulldogs’ senior class. Jimenez Donovan led the way for the Bulldogs with five goals and Finn O’Neill added four. Senior goalkeeper made six saves to turn back the Novato rally effort.

• Gabriel Himer led Tam with five goals and Zach Pollack added four more as the Hawks stumped San Marin, 17-8, on Wednesday night. The two teams were locked in an intense duel through the first half, with Tam leading 7-6 at the break. The Hawks then broke out with a 7-1 run in the third quarter to clinch the lead. The Hawks (5-2 MCAL, 13-8) got two goals each from Josh Goldstein and Charlie Peters, as well as one each from Jack Spence, Quin Concannon, Cole Stanford and Fields Palmer.

Field hockey

Marin Catholic shut down Berkeley, 3-0, with goals by Caiya Hyman and Piper and Sailor Berger on Thursday. Sydney Hubbard and Maggie Carr were credited with assists.
