The Strawberry Recreation District is considering rate increases for next year.

Nancy Shapiro, the general manager, said the district’s board discussed rates at its meeting on Oct. 12. The district also might modify its rate differential between residents and nonresidents to approximately 5%, she said.

The final rates for activities and facilities rentals will likely be set during the board’s next meeting on Nov. 9, Shapiro said.

“Since we are a standalone district, it’s our mission to continue to increase our level of service,” she said. “We can’t fall back on anyone for additional funds. We have to be able to make a profit that we reinvest in our facility.”

The district rents out fields and facilities and offers memberships for tennis and pool use. It also offers various classes and programs. Shapiro said the district has about 90 tennis memberships and 250 pool memberships, which are sold quarterly and limited through a reservation system.

For 2021, Shapiro said, the differential ranges by about 5%, 10% or 15% based on the activity or the rental.

An annual tennis pass for this year was $150 per family for Strawberry residents and $175 per family for nonresidents. Quarterly rates for the pool were set at $216 for senior residents, $252 for senior nonresidents, $288 for regular residents and $324 for regular nonresidents, according to the online activity guide. Each quarterly pool membership option charged $54 for an additional person.

The district also offered winter and spring youth programs ranging from $264 to $744.

Shapiro said the increased rates would provide much-needed
