Tam baseball rolls, tops SM

Matteo Bellisimo hit a three-run homer to cap a fiverun second inning as the Tam High baseball team defeated San Marin, 7-0, on Friday.

Charlie Blau staked the Red-tailed Hawks to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second then Bellisimo drove home three more runs to give Tam a big early lead. The Red-tailed Hawks (9-5, 5-3 MCAL) added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Kaiden Dossa started and pitched five shutout innings, striking out nine hitters while allowing three hits. Jack Farstein struck out four more in two innings of relief.

Tyler Buxton had an RBI double for Tam and drew a pair of walks. Five different players had base hits for San Marin (8-4-1, 4-4).

• Marin Academy scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, breaking open a close game for a 6-1 win against San Domenico Friday. Henry Dinh-Price hit a two-run single to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. Ingo Soloman, Izzy Riley, and Miles Samaniego added RBIs for MA. Will Bennett pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and striking out four. San Domenico's Alex Tavano had eight strikeouts in five innings before running into trouble in the sixth. Max Tavano doubled and scored the Panthers' only run.

Boys tennis

Tam picked up crucial victories at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to rally for a 4-3 win against Branson Friday.

The Bulls got a win for Tommy Wiggins at No. 3 singles plus wins in the other two doubles matches to take a 3-2 lead. Tam pulled level when Carson Harrell defeated Luke Tuscher at No. 1 singles then relied on Tyler Byrne and Luke Bulger to bring home the win at the top doubles match.

Boys volleyball

Andrew Terauchi had 28 assists and 17 digs to help Marin Catholic to a 3-1 victory against Novato Friday. Matthew Dolan added five aces, two blocks and two kills for MC while Sean Fassig had five blocks and five kills. MC was coming off a 3-0 win against San Marin Thursday, getting 13 aces and seven kills from Lorenzo Barbagelat­a-Miller.

Prep swimming

The Novato boys team remained undefeated on the season, holding off Redwood 101-82. Bryden Thielenhau­s (200 free and 100 fly) was a double winner for Novato. Ezra Portillo wont he 100 breast and Rex Franux won the 200 individual medley. Owen Peterson won the diving event for Redwood.

On the girls side, Redwood won 109-59, getting a pair of wins from Catherine Watrous (100 free, 100 breast). Kaley McIntyre had two wins for Novato, in the 50 free and 500 free. Lena Bondarenko won the diving for Redwood.
