Crncich Hodge best choice to lead schools

-

Michele Crncich Hodge was recruited by teachers to share a fresh vision of leadership as Marin superintendent of schools.

Crncich Hodge has a “360-degree lens” on what our teachers, students and their families need, serving as a teacher for 13 years in San Rafael's Miller Creek School District, president of the Miller Creek Educators Association, principal in a dependent charter district in Sonoma County and a San Rafael accountability of funds district administrator. She has served homeless families, worked as a researcher and now serves on the Mill Valley School District Board of Trustees.

As our next superintendent of schools, Crncich Hodge will work for:

• Excellence: She will preserve the best of our public schools as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.

• Equity: She will close the achievement/opportunity gap by leading a countywide equity initiative.

• Enrollment: Tackling the decline in enrollment for our public schools head-on, she will create an action plan for bringing students back to our school communities.

Crncich Hodge also brings expertise from a prior career in real estate leasing and appraisal. We need a county superintendent with a varied skill set to work effectively with countywide partners on critical issues facing our schools, including affordable housing initiatives for teachers and support staff.

To be a highly effective county superintendent in today's new era of public education, we need leadership skills to bring diverse stakeholders together for a common vision. Crncich Hodge has been a fierce advocate for educational equity and excellence that has defined her life and career. Importantly, she is our Marin County teachers' choice.
