Rams sign former MC lineman

Snyder was a five-year starter at San Jose State

Once the NFL draft had wrapped up on Saturday, the Los Angeles Rams wasted very little time in reaching out to former Marin Catholic standout Jack Snyder.

The offensive lineman signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent on Saturday night, becoming the second Marin Catholic player in recent memory to land with the team.

“I spoke with their O-line coach a couple of times then had a bunch of scouts reaching out in the week leading up to the draft,” Snyder said. “I could definitely tell that their interest in me was picking up going into the draft.”

Snyder, who played five seasons at San Jose State, follows Jared Goff from Marin Catholic to the Rams. Goff, who came out of Cal, was the No. 1 overall pick by the Rams in 2016. Snyder played part of a season at MC with Goff as a sophomore when Goff was a senior in 2012.

“Ever since I started watching football, a little kid dreams of putting those jerseys on and to be this close to making that dream come true is surreal,” Snyder said.

Snyder holds school records for games started (52) and games played (57) for San Jose State.

“Honestly, it was just me playing a lot of football,” Snyder said. “I was lucky enough to play and be a starter since my freshman year and with COVID I was actually a five-year starter. I was able to show my durability, my love for the game, and my hard work.”

Snyder's crowning achievements at San Jose State were winning a conference title and being named the Mountain West Player of the Year by ProFootballFocus.com in 2020.

“Jack is one of the most humble players I have ever coached,” MC coach Mazi Moayed said. “His talent was solid, but his attitude and work ethic were great.

He's a man of few words. He showed up every day and went to work. Guys like Jack are the foundation.”

Snyder credits Moayed and the football program at MC for helping him reach this point in his career.

“Coach Maz had a huge impact on where I am right now,” Snyder said. “I definitely owe a lot to him. He was the one who saw something in me as a (6feet, 2-inch tall), 170-pound sophomore playing O-line. He pulled me up to varsity my sophomore year and that's the point when playing college football became a reality for me.”

Snyder was an all-MCAL honorable mention as a junior in 2013 before making the leap to first team as a senior in 2014.

“You want to see every person to succeed and to maximize their ability and then some,” Moayed said. “Jack seemed to do that at every level. I couldn't be happier for him and his family.”
