Violet Florence Valador Swanson
The greatest mom has joined the Greatest generation on May 1st, the month of our Blessed Mother Mary. She left on her own terms in the house she and her beloved Ronald lived in for 63 years. Born in the little Portuguese town of Mendocino, where she was the Pentecost Queen in 1941, the youngest of six Valadors. She left on a bus to the big city of San Francisco after graduating high school at the age of 17. She lived in a boarding house in Haight-Ashbury and worked at St. Joseph’s hospital. Violet met the love of her life, Ronald Swanson, and together they raised five children. They moved to Northbridge in 1959. She was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Church and School. She worked hard all her life and was a special friend to many. She was especially proud of working in the childcare center at the Marin JCC well into her 80s. Violet also volunteered at the San Rafael Convalescent for over 40 years. Her memory will be our inspiration and a blessing to live a good, full life.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Ronald Swanson, granddaughter Kaitlyn Hanna, and son-inlaw Jerry Morgan.
She is survived by her children: Duane (Su) Swanson, Susan Morgan, Mark (Nancy) Swanson, Lance (Ellen) Swanson, and Gayle (Robert) Hanna; grandchildren: Shawn, Heather and Dana Swanson, Shannon Payne, Lance Morgan, Thomas, Miranda and James Swanson, Rachel, Brian and Daniel Swanson, and Dean Hanna; and greatgrandchildren Chance and Easton Payne and Levi Hanna.
