Many reasons to vote yes on Measure A extension

-

On June 7, I recommend voting in favor of Measure A for many reasons. To name a few, it:

• Supplements Marin County Parks funding to deliver high quality access to and usability of the district's almost 18,000 acres

• Supports local jurisdictions by funding work on their park properties

• Emphasizes appropriate vegetation fuels reduction to reduce wildfire risk on county parks properties

• Provides a grant program for improving sustainable, local food systems, including community garden support

• Supports equity-focused initiatives such as entry fee reductions and library park passes

• Emphasizes increased sustainable agriculture delivering local products to the county's residents

• Appropriately adjusts support of land and conservation easements.

The nearly yearlong process to develop and review Measure A was very thorough, comprehensive and inclusive. For example, several changes were incorporated based on early surveys and on review comments made on the original version.

For an ordinance, such as Measure A, planning for and anticipating the details of every event that may take place during nine years is difficult. This consideration is addressed through the planned operational reviews and oversight events, such as the Board of Supervisors meetings. These allow residents and organizations to comment on proposed projects, such as easement requests and grant applications for projects.

Overall, Measure A is a well thought out and reviewed proposal that provides many benefits to all Marin County residents while making adjustments to activities currently of greater importance to Marin County residents.

Please support Measure A by voting yes.
