Martin is the best choice for San Rafael schools

-

I urge San Rafael residents to support Carolina Martin for the school board. Martin and I serve together on that board, and I see how she works tirelessly for our students, families and teachers. As a mother to public school students, Martin understands the needs of our children.

We need leaders like Martin, a former public school teacher who has taught in tough school environments. She is a first-generation immigrant whose success is a testament to the power of quality public education. Martin will bring a unique perspective while putting equity at the forefront to ensure children thrive regardless of their background or zip code.

We cannot take this race for granted. Across the country, there are forces eager to undermine our children's ability to learn and our teachers' ability to do their jobs: from banning the teaching of slavery and LGBTQ+ history to peddling falsehoods around COVID-19.

San Rafael is no stranger to this and we need leaders like Martin — a champion for safe schools free from those seeking to politicize our children's education. She will fight to ensure our school board remains effective.

Martin will listen to her community and prioritize our children's learning, health and safety. And this is why she's earned the support of our community leaders, firefighters and teachers. Because they know the challenges our schools face, they call for a different kind of leader. That leader is Carolina Martin.

She is already making an impact in our school district. I know Martin is a champion for all San Rafael students, parents and teachers and I hope the voters of Area 4 join me in defending public education.
