The list >> Manhattan Bridge beats Golden Gate Bridge for Google's `top scenic spots'

-

If there's one suspension bridge the nation reveres, it's that glorious span serving a world-class metropolis that once had a tilting problem and is the fetching color of a fish belly — yes, the beloved Manhattan Bridge linking lower Manhattan to Brooklyn.

At least that's according Google's recent “Year in Search” for the United States, which explores what trended during the terrible annum of 2022(of the top 10mostpopular searches altogether, two are for lottery games and one is just “Jeffrey Dahmer”). In the category for the “Top Scenic Spots” people searched for on Google Maps, the winner is “Dumbo: Manhattan Bridge View, Brooklyn, New York.” The Golden Gate Bridge, recently dubbed the mostphotographed bridge in the world, gets second place with “Golden Gate View Point, Mill Valley, California.”

It's unclear why a viewing spot of the Manhattan Bridge beat out one for its much-morefamous sister, the Brooklyn Bridge. Perhaps people were confusing the two? Or maybe it's because the Dumbo neighborhood has good sightlines to both bridges?

New York also makes Google Maps' list with the Statue of Liberty, but California comes back swinging with Glacier Point in Yosemite. Here's the full list of scenic spots.
