Novato's Rabb tosses gem against Albany

Jacob Rabb struck out 10 hitters in a complete-game effort, leading the Novato High baseball team to a 6-1 victory against Albany on Saturday.

Rabb allowed just three hits and two walks with one earned run in shutting down the Cougars.

Albany led 1-0 through three innings until Novato (8-3) put together a fourrun rally in the top of the fourth. J.P Harmon tied the game with an RBI double then Owen Von Behren singled home the go-ahead run. Evan Black had a fielder's choice to score another run then Dominic Scafani stole home for a 4-1 lead.

Novato added two insurance runs in the sixth inning courtesy of singles by Von Behren and Scafani.

• Branson scored at least one run in every inning, en route to a 12-3 win against San Domenico on Saturday. The Bulls' biggest inning came in the first when hits by Liam Parrot and Thomas Lardner helped Branson (95) to a quick 4-0 lead. Parrot

and Lardner had two hits and two RBIs each. William Ashley also drove in two runs for Branson. Norm AuYeung had a hit, drew two walks and scored three times. San Domenico's Alex Tavano hit a triple and Ozzie Shenk had a double.

• Charlie Scola had a three-hit game to help Archie Williams out-hit Petaluma on Saturday but five errors proved to be the undoing for the Peregrine Falcons in a 10-4 loss. Archie Williams (4-8) had nine hits to Petaluma's six and led 3-1 after the top of the second inning. Petaluma tied the game in the bottom of the frame then blew it open with four more runs in the

third.

Prep softball

Kaela Sparler hit a basesclear­ing double in the first inning to help Redwood to a 4-2 win against Alameda on Saturday. The first three Giants to the plate all drew walks and came around to score on Sparler's double. The Giants (63-1) added an insurance run in the fifth, courtesy of a double by Maizy Crawford. Starting pitcher Georgia Pineda went six innings with seven hits, no runs and eight strikeouts.

Girls lacrosse

Maddie Smith led the way as Tam squeaked out a 9-8 victory over Redwood on Friday. Smith, who has committed to Northweste­rn, scored a team-high four goals. Sophomore Rowie Scobie added three goals for the Red-tailed Hawks. Kate Carvalho and Ashley Townsend each scored one goal.

Tam followed that win up with an 11-10 victory over Marin Academy on Saturday. Smith scored five more goals and Scobie scored four times. Jamie Lemberg had seven saves in goal.

Tam and Marin Catholic, the last two teams with unblemishe­d MCAL records, square off on Thursday.

Boys track

Redwood produced a pair of triple winners in a 106-30 victory against Marin Catholic on Thursday. Antonio Bayon won the 110-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the discus while John Putney won the 100, the 200 and the shot put. Putney also ran a leg on Redwood's victorious 4×100 relay. MC's Ziggy Nacco emerged with a victory in the 1,600, beating out Redwood's Daegan Cutter and Blake Martin in a hard-fought win. Nacco also contribute­d to MC's 4×400 relay win.

• Lochlan McLean won both of the sprints to help Archie Williams pick up wins against Terra Linda, 98-28, and Branson, 101-14. Luke Calegari won the 400 and Will Milliken won the 800. Griffith Ballard won the pole vault, long jump and triple jump for TL, helping the Trojans to a 6229 win against Branson.

Girls track

Ruby Hauth and Ava Buske were among the standouts as Redwood secured a 103-34 win against Marin Catholic on Thursday. Hauth won the 100 hurdles and the high jump. Buske won the pole vault and placed second in both the long jump and triple jump. MC was led by Angelique Addae and Millie Weitz. Addae won the 100 with a league-leading time of 12.49 seconds. Weitz posted league bests in both the long jump (16 feet, 6 inches) and the triple jump (33-6.5).

• Piper Preston (both hurdles), Lauren Barnwell (100, 200), and Alyssa Connelly (long jump, triple jump) won multiple events to lead Archie Williams to a pair of victories, 10823 against TL and 99-31 against Branson. Alexa Polsky won the 1,600 for Branson, helping the Bulls to a 58-48 win against TL. Ivy Brenner won the shot put and the discus for the Bulls.

Boys swimming

Soren Jessen (200 free, 500 free) and Cameron Hellar (200 individual medley, 100 free) were double winners as Terra Linda defeated San Rafael 126-41 on Friday. TL swept the relays and got single wins from Nicolas Arinduque, Jackson Conway, David Finney, and Jack Middleton.

Girls swimming

Terra Linda swept the three relays as part of a 12449 win against San Rafael on Friday. There were no double winners but TL got victories from Catherine Fahrner, Jojo Fetterman, Emily Erickson, Kira Rodriguez, Jada Swan, and Rosie Lucchesi.

Boys tennis

Ishwar Jayaraman, Oliver Goldman, Cal Keenley and Roshan Belani swept the Nos. 1-4 singles matches, respective­ly, as Branson picked up a 7-0 victory against Novato on Friday. Keenley's match was the most competitiv­e of the day as he outlasted Indie Stanic in a 10-8 super-tiebreaker.
