Lovette's home run highlights MC win

Gracyn Lovette had three hits, including a home run, as the Marin Catholic softball team secured a 5-1 win against Tam on Monday.

Lovette hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth to give MC (5-2, 2-2 MCAL) a 5-0 lead. All told, Lovette drove in three runs. Leadoff hitter Sammy Horn was the only other Wildcat with multiple hits, singling and scoring twice.

Starting pitcher Lily Cox worked all seven innings, allowing six hits and one earned run with three strikeouts.

• San Marin scored eight times in the sixth inning to blow open a close game en route to a 9-1 win against Archie Williams. Savannah Reynolds and Brittany Casper had two hits apiece for the Mustangs (4-5, 3-2), who benefitted from four Archie Williams errors. San Marin had just one run-scoring hit during the eight-run rally, a single by Casper. Amelia Richer had a pair of hits for Archie Williams (1-7, 1-4).

• Addison Dunn had four hits and drove in four runs to lead Redwood to an 11-0 win against Novato (6-6, 1-4). Ashley Weingart was the other Giant with multiple hits, with an RBI single, a double, a walk, and four runs scored. Georgia Pineda allowed one hit in five innings for the Giants. Gabby Winnett had the lone hit for the Hornets.

• Megan Murphy had a huge game in the circle and at the plate, leading San Rafael (8-2, 5-0) to an 8-0 win against cross-town rival Terra Linda. Murphy had four hits and scored three times offensivel­y. As a pitcher, Murphy allowed three hits and struck out 10 batters. Angel Amesa also had a big game with four hits and four RBIs.

Boys tennis

Terra Linda won three singles matches and took a victory at No. 1 doubles to get past Tam 4-3 on Monday. Jack Rosenthal, Julian Robin, and En-Yun Liu picked up the singles wins at Nos. 2-4, respective­ly, for TL. Tam's Witt Bulger defeated TL's Luca Ratra at No. 1 singles.

• Jack Millar, Andrew Gorcyzycki, Qas Vaidyarthi and Will Shepard swept the Nos. 1-4 singles matches, respective­ly, leading Marin Catholic to a 7-0 win against San Marin on Monday.

• Ollie Weston and Lukas Berger had wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respective­ly, to pace Redwood to a 7-0 victory against San Rafael. Redwood also got singles wins from Marco Lombardo and Cole Seifer.

• Oliver Goldman and Zander Alpert won the top two singles matches, leading Branson to a 7-0 victory against Novato on Monday.

Boys golf

Charlie Farrell and Ryan Herbst took co-medalist honors with even-par 36s to lift Branson to its ninth consecutiv­e MCAL victory to start the season, a 193199 win against Marin Catholic Monday at Peacock Gap. Truman Ashworth paced the Wildcats with a 37.

Prep track

San Rafael resident Ellie McCuskey-Hay, a freshman at Saint Ignatius, placed first in the 100 meters and the long jump at the Lynbrook Invitation­al on Saturday. McCuskeyHa­y won the 100 in 12.09 seconds and the long jump at 18 feet. She also posted a personal best of 24.62 seconds while taking second in the 200.

Prep swimming

Marin Academy's boys and girls teams stayed unbeaten on the season with wins against Internatio­nal High this past week.

Katherine Wu (50 free, 100 back) and Ali Kosmowski (200 free, 100 breast) led the way with a pair of wins on the girls side. Lauren Regan (100 fly) and Audrey Chang (100 free) also had victories as the Wildcats won 108-10.

Tristan Lu (50 free, 100 free), Karsten Hakes (100 fly, 100 back) and Jeremy Tachiki (200 free, 100 breast) posted two wins apiece as the boys secured a 131-21 victory. Ewan Smith (200 individual medley) and Michael Yoder (500 free) also had wins.
