Marilyn (Morris) Ormond, age 79, of San Anselmo, CA, passed away peacefully at home on November 18, 2023, after a battle with cancer. Her husband of 54 years was by her side. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor, and friend.

The only child to the late Ross and Helen Morris, Marilyn was born on January 27, 1944, in San Francisco, CA. She grew up in Vallejo, CA, and attended local schools, graduating from Vallejo High School. She then enrolled at the University of California-Berkeley where she earned a bachelor's in Communications. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority where she met a group of women whose friendships she would share over the next six decades. She later earned a master’s of education degree from Sonoma State University.

Marilyn had a long and successful career in retail, starting as a talented retail buyer for the Emporium department store specializing in women’s casual wear. Later she taught textiles and business-retail at the College of Marin. Marilyn's career culminated as the long-term owner of the beloved Miscellaneous gift shop in downtown San Anselmo until her retirement in 2000.

Marilyn met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Ormond at an Emporium company picnic. After a brief courtship, they married in 1969 and moved to San Anselmo where they raised their only daughter Kristin.

In retirement, Marilyn and Bob lived a full life. They especially enjoyed spending time with their family and friends at their second home in Tahoe Donner. She had a passion for world travel and Marilyn planned multiple excursions exploring the world. When she wasn’t traveling, Marilyn dedicated her time to helping animals. She served various roles within the NORCAL Golden Retriever Rescue, including president for multiple years in the early 2000s. In recent years she could often be found volunteering at the Marin Humane Society Thrift Shop. Her passion and commitment to animal welfare were evident in everything she did.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Robert Ormond, her daughter Kristin Bauer, son-in-law Cord Bauer, stepson Steven Ormond, grandsons Griffin Ormond, Glenn Ormond, Nathan Bauer, Chase Bauer, granddaughter Bella Bauer, and her beloved golden retriever, Logan.
