San Rafael ace Drummer tallies up perfect game

San Rafael High softball ace Thomara Drummer struck out 17 hitters in a perfect game against Albany on on Monday. Drummer worked all seven innings without allowing a baserunner in San Rafael's 9-0 victory.

Drummer, Sophia Everett, Cassidy Kaplan, and Gabby Rodriguez all had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs (2-0). Everett and Kaplan both drove in two runs and scored two.

Prep baseball

Max Lefferts and Jack Evans manufactur­ed runs in the top of the seventh inning to lead Archie Williams to a 7-5 victory against Branson on Monday.

Lefferts hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Arlo Maury for the go-ahead run then Evans hit an RBI groundout, scoring Miki Accomazzo for an insurance run.

Archie Williams (1-2, 1-0 MCAL) led 4-0 in the top of the third inning before Branson scored single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. The Bulls (3-2, 1-2) tied the game on a two-run homer by Thomas Lardner in the bottom of the sixth.

Ethan Frankel had two hits to lead the Peregrine Falcons while Evans had two RBIs. Lardner and Liam Parrot had two hits apiece for Branson and Mo Jacoby hit a solo home run.

Griffin Vorhaus pitched a complete-game shutout to lead Novato to a 5-0 win against Terra Linda on Monday. Vorhaus allowed three hits and struck out six over seven innings. The Hornets (4-1, 2-0) were led by Gio Castaing's two hits and Cash Campbell's two RBIs. Thomas Martinez had three hits for TL.

College baseball

Former Terra Linda High standout Chris DeLangis and Dashiell Carson delivered the big hits in a six-run second inning as College of Marin rolled to a 16-1 win against Yuba.

Carson mashed a threerun homer to make it 5-0 then DeLangis added a two-run triple for a 7-0 lead. Carson drove in four runs while DeLangis and Matteo Mendoza each drove in three.

Starting pitcher Bruno Condit, a former Marin Catholic standout, allowed two hits in three innings of work.

Boys tennis

Tyler Byrne picked up the decisive win at No. 1 singles, lifting Tam to a 4-3 victory against Terra Linda on Monday. Tam swept the doubles matches to account for its other three wins.

Redwood got strong performanc­es up and down the ladder en route to a 7-0 victory against Marin Catholic on Monday. Jackson Sichel, Will Greenwald, Lukas Berger, and Julian Monatlik won singles matches for the Giants. The two teams face each other again on Tuesday.

Oliver Goldman, Finn Higgins, Zander Alpert and Tyler Yang swept the singles matches to lead Branson to a 7-0 win against San Marin on Monday.

Boys golf

Sean Madden and Micah Albers shared medalist honors for Terra Linda in a 198-220 victory at Peacock Gap on Monday. Carl Smith paced Branson with a 39.

Max Berg led a balanced effort and took medalist honors with an even-par 33 in Tam's 177-216 victory against Archie Williams at Mill Valley Golf Course. Ben Friedman and Hayden Thill both carded 34s for Tam. Calvin Cavana and Julian Nichole had shot 41s for Archie Williams.

Boys volleyball

Branson took an early two-set lead before falling 19-25, 17-25, 27-25, 29-27, 15-6 against St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Monday night.

Prep track

San Rafael resident Ellie McCuskey-Hay went 18 feet, 9 inches in the long jump for St, Ignatius on Saturday, taking first place at the Rustbuster Invitation­al and setting a Monta Vista High stadium record in the process. McCuskey-Hay also placed first in the 100 meters.
