Bulldogs break out for 2-0 victory over Branson

San Rafael did all its damage in the bottom of the fifth inning of Tuesday's 2-0 home win over Branson. Dylan Thorpe scored and drove in Mikey Giannino for a run, while Lazlo Clements had an RBI. The Bulldogs' Floyd Greene and Marcos Tolliver combined to throw a two-hitter and ring up six strikeouts.

Branson's Mo Jacoby threw five innings, allowing four hits and two walks. Cooper Tenney had two of the Bulls' three hits, with Cobe Benjamin getting the other hit.

• Tam High banged out three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a tie en route to a 9-6 victory in Tuesday's non-league contest against Benicia. The Red-tailed Hawks' Maxwell Fiek doubled twice and drove in two runs, while Cooper Kift tripled and had an RBI. Eli Solem struck out six batters and gave up four hits across four innings for Tam (8-5).

• Archie Williams started fast, then cut short a San Marin rally effort in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Mustangs. Sam Black, Hudson Lofrano and Jackson Oliver-Roa each doubled for the Peregrine Falcons, who had eight hits. Leo Hendricks and Peter Irwin combined to throw a threehitte­r for Archie Williams, with six strikeouts total. San Marin's Sean McGrath had two doubles and Tyler Keehn added another double.

• Thomas Klein had two hits for Marin Academy, but the Wildcats lost to Lower Lake, 11-3, on Monday. Marin Academy (0-6) is scheduled to play Drew on Wednesday.

College baseball

A three-run homer by Matteo Bellisimo in the fifth inning powered Marin to a 9-0 victory over Napa Valley on Tuesday in Kentfield. The Mariners (17-9, 6-1 BVC) scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Jacob Anteneh hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap the afternoon. Erik Kvidahl picked up the win for Marin with six strikeouts as he allowed one hit and one walk during eight innings.

Boys golf

San Rafael's Cameron Mayed shot a 43 for low medalist honors as the Bulldogs outshot Novato 235253 at Marin County Club. Jamie Welke shot a 46 for the Hornets.

• Dylan Siegel and Quinn McInerney both carded a 3-over 39 at Peacock Gap on Monday to help Marin Academy get past Urban, 167-255. The Wildcats (6-0) also got a 41 from Drayson Jaffee.

Girls lacrosse

Tam continues to solidify its playoff position after a 16-6 win over Novato on Tuesday. The Hawks (56, 3-1 MCAL) are in a threeway tie for second place with Marin Catholic (6-3, 3-1) and Branson (10-1, 3-1), and face both teams in the next two weeks.

• Archie Williams beat Bay School, 10-5, in Tuesday's non-league showdown.

Prep swimming

Terra Linda had four double-winners as the Trojans defeated the Redwood boys, 121-51 on Tuesday. Terra Linda's Ben Butler (100 fly, 100 back), Nicholas Arinduque (200 IM, 100 breast), Cam Hellar (200 free, 500 free) and Jack Middleton (50 free, 100 free) each won two events.

The Redwood girls beat Terra Linda, 124-56, bolstered by a pair of wins from Kate De Forrest (100 free, 200 free). Terra Linda's Jamie Schmidt won the 200 IM and 100 breast.

Boys tennis

Sam Zail rallied for a tiebreaker singles win to help lift Tam to a 6-1 victory over Terra Linda on Monday. Zail beat the Trojans' Ein Liu 2-6, 6-3, 10-5, at No. 2 singles. Terra Linda won the No. 3 singles match. Tyler Byrne and Julian Khetawat also won singles matches for Tam.

• Redwood picked up back-to-back wins to start the week. The Giants defeated Archie Williams, 6-1, on Tuesday, a day after beating San Rafael. The Giants' Jackson Sichel, Will Greenwald and Lukas Berger won at Nos. 1-3 singles, while the Peregrine Falcons' Henry Gamble won at No. 4 singles. Redwood swept San Rafael, 7-0, on

Monday supported by singles wins from Berger, Cal Fazal, Charlie Aspatore and Jared Tuatini.

Prep badminton

San Domenico controlled the court in a 7-2 victory over Internatio­nal, with only one match going to three sets. The Panthers (6-1) are scheduled to host Convent-Stuart Hall on Wednesday.

Prep track & field

Redwood senior Ethan Werner kicked ahead of longtime rival Nick McAuley of Novato as they finished 1-2, respective­ly, in both the 1600 and 3200 in a tri-meet with Marin Catholic on Friday. McAuley won the 800 (2:06.72) ahead of Redwood's Jonah Momsen. Redwood senior William Ghalam won the 100 (11.20) and 200 (22.10) to help the Giants finish ahead of Novato (102-30) and Marin Catholic (87-40) in the team results. Marin Catholic beat out Novato (81-45).

On the girls side, the Giants' Annalise Horn won the 100 (13.27), and finished second in the 200 to teammate Tatum McPeak (26.93) in the 200. Redwood's Marley Nacco edged Marin Catholic's Alina Franchetti to win the 800 (2:31.62). Nacco also won the 1600 (5:26.68), and teammate Erin Stolte won the 3200 (12:16.42). Redwood beat Novato (110-12) and Marin Catholic (10220), while Marin Catholic topped Novato (68-31).
