Principal named to new position at school district
Archie Williams High School principal LaSandra White has been named to a new administrative post in the Tamalpais Union High School District office.
White, the school's principal since 2021, will assume the role of senior director of human resources. The promotion will take effect July 1.
Before coming to Archie Williams High School, White worked for 26 years at Redwood High School in Larkspur. She was a counselor and assistant principal.
“After spending 28 years at school sites, I am ready to take my career to the next level,” White said after her appointment was approved by trustees on March 26. “I believe that my vast experience as a site leader has prepared me for this role.”
White's annual salary will be $210,565, one salary schedule step above her pay now, according to Wesley Cedros, assistant superintendent of human resources. It is the same amount White would earn if she stayed as principal next year because the two jobs are at the same salary scale, he said.
Cedros said recruiting has begun for the principal position at Archie Williams.
“We are targeting the first couple weeks of May for completing the process and introducing a new principal to the Archie Williams community,”
Cedros said in an email.
Among other duties, White will be charged with promoting the hiring of a more diverse and “culturally responsive” staff, according the job description.
“I am very excited to support the district's work to recruit, retain and support more staff of color,” said White, who is African American.
“I also look forward to the opportunity to get to know and support the professional development of our staff throughout the district so they are best equipped to meet the needs of all students in the district,” White said.
The new post also has responsibilities such as managing personnel administration, credential processing, establishing and maintaining of eligibility lists, payroll setup, employee hiring and separation counseling.
White holds a master's degree in counseling from the University of San Diego and a master's degree in educational administration from San Francisco State University.
Prior to graduate school, White earned a bachelor's degree in sociology at the University of California at Berkeley.
White grew up in Marin City and graduated from the Branson School in Ross.
