Blue Crabs to hold FanFest
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs will kick off its ninth season with FanFest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 9 at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. The event is free.
Kicking off festivities will be the annual St. Charles Running Festival, with a 10-mile, 5K and kids fun run. For more information or to register, go to www. stcharlesrunfest.com.
Fans will have an opportunity to watch the Blue Crabs hold open tryouts from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $45 to tryout with bats and helmets provided by the team. The third annual Crustacean Nation Softball Faceoff will begin at 1 p.m. The first 16 fans to register will be broken up into teams and participants will be given four tickets to opening night, April 21. BMX bike sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays at Charles County Skatepark, which is at White Plains Regional Park.
Standard skatepark admission fees apply. Cyclists 18 and younger must have a parent or legal guardian present at time of registration.

Rawlings A’s Prospects is looking for players to help it defend the 2015 DC Collegiate League Championship. Players who are graduating high school seniors and current college players are eligible to play.
