Blue Crabs to hold FanFest

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs will kick off its ninth season with FanFest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 9 at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. The event is free.

Kicking off festivitie­s will be the annual St. Charles Running Festival, with a 10-mile, 5K and kids fun run. For more informatio­n or to register, go to www. stcharlesr­unfest.com.

Fans will have an opportunit­y to watch the Blue Crabs hold open tryouts from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $45 to tryout with bats and helmets provided by the team. The third annual Crustacean Nation Softball Faceoff will begin at 1 p.m. The first 16 fans to register will be broken up into teams and participan­ts will be given four tickets to opening night, April 21. BMX bike sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays at Charles County Skatepark, which is at White Plains Regional Park.

Standard skatepark admission fees apply. Cyclists 18 and younger must have a parent or legal guardian present at time of registrati­on.

Rawlings A’s Prospects is looking for players to help it defend the 2015 DC Collegiate League Championsh­ip. Players who are graduating high school seniors and current college players are eligible to play.
