La Plata Ap­ple­bee’s cel­e­brates 10th with party

Ap­ple­bee’s La Plata is cel­e­brat­ing two ma­jor mile­stones — its 10th an­niver­sary and a head-to-toe ren­o­va­tion — and is host­ing an all-day party from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Satur­day, April 2.

Guests will en­joy half price ap­pe­tiz­ers along with $2 Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Lite pints, $3 Long Is­land iced teas and $4 craft beer bot­tles all day. One lucky guest will win free ap­pe­tiz­ers for a year.

La Plata Mayor Roy Hale and lo­cal coun­cil mem­bers will kick off the cel­e­bra­tion with a rib­bon cutting at 11:30 a.m. The day will fea­ture fam­ily-friendly en­ter­tain­ment with a moon bounce on­site from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Sam Adam’s beer tast­ing will be held from noon to 2 p.m. with a wine tast­ing from 5 to 7 p.m.

The restau­rant will also host an all-you­can-eat bone­less wings com­pe­ti­tion for char­ity be­tween the La Plata Police, the Charles County Sher­iff’s Of­fice and La Plata Fire Depart­ment at 3 p.m.

The Ap­ple­bee’s lo­ca­tion first opened in 2006 and was re­mod­eled for the first time ear­lier this year. As part of the restau­rant’s re­model, staff mem­bers auc­tioned off all the dé­cor from the orig­i­nal de­sign and raised $1,400 for breast cancer aware­ness. The restau­rant is lo­cated at 10 Shin­ing Wil­low Way, La Plata.

Ch­eryl Bare of Cen­tury 21 Real Estate re­ceived the CEN­TURY 21 Grand Cen­tu­rion pro­ducer and qual­ity ser­vice pro­ducer awards re­cently for her sales work last year.

The pro­ducer award is pre­sented to sales af­fil­i­ates of Cen­tury 21 who earn $675,000 in sales pro­duc­tion or 195 closed trans­ac­tions within a calendar year.

In ad­di­tion to pro­duc­tion and ser­vice awards, Bare was also hon­ored as the 2015 top pro­duc­ing agent for CEN­TURY 21 New Mil­len­nium and the num­ber two agent in the Mid-At­lantic re­gion. She has re­mained in the top 25 na­tion­ally for the last ten years.”Re­ceiv­ing the Grand Cen­tu­rion pro­ducer award is a tremen­dous ac­com­plish­ment for Ch­eryl Bare and is tes­ta­ment to her un­wa­ver­ing com­mit­ment to pro­fes­sional ex­cel­lence and cus­tomer sat­is­fac­tion,” Mary Lynn Stone, pres­i­dent of CEN­TURY 21 New Mil­len­nium, said in a press re­lease.

Bare has over 25 years of ex­pe­ri­ence in the real estate in­dus­try, av­er­ag­ing 100 units a year with ap­prox­i­mately 89 per­cent of her busi­ness re­peat or re­fer­ral cus­tomers.

Mary­land In­ter­na­tional Race­way (MDIR) an­nounced re­cently that Hal­tech En­gine Man­age­ment Sys­tems is the ti­tle spon­sor for the eighth an­nual Door Wars rac­ing event sched­uled for April 15-17.

The race sea­son kick-off event has more than $60,000 in prize money up for grabs, ac­cord­ing to the press re­lease.
