Debra Verstalla Johnson

Debra Verstalla Johnson, 54, of Bryans Road, MD, passed suddenly on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Charles Regional Medical Center in LaPlata, MD.

Debra is survived by her devoted husband, Shelton Johnson and her loving children: James “Antoine” (Shenita), Shelton Jr. and Sherrika (Francis); her grandchild­ren: Jazmine, Jadai, Shayla, AlaJaih, Shanaya and Alexus; her siblings: Joseph, Pernell, Alphonso, Deon (Paula), Alnita, Jeffery and Butch; mother-in-law Gloria Johnson and a host of sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Debra’s hobbies/interests includes: bingo, playing cards, family cookouts and gatherings, deejaying, scary movies, camping, going to Maryland Live with her Diva Friends and playing practical jokes on people.

Debra held many jobs over her lifetime but the most important job was being a homemaker to her husband and children. She was also a self taught cosmetolog­ist, interior designer and home remodeling expert.

Viewing 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Issue, MD. Interment, Church Cemetery.

James Lymberg Smallwood, 88, of Bel Alton, MD, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at his home.

He was born July 7, 1927 in Charlotte Hall, MD to Mattie and John Smallwood. He had 13 brothers and sisters.

Known as Lymberg to everyone, he worked on the farm at Causine Manor where he raised his family.

He is survived by his life companion, Mary Louise Wills; his daughters and caregivers, Patsy Ann Boyden and her husband Mark, Polly Smallwood and Betty Smallwood; his sons, Thomas Smallwood and his wife Brenda Corrine Smallwood, John Smallwood, Richard Smallwood and his companion Karen, Roger Smallwood and his wife Fontella, and Michael Smallwood and his wife Felicia; his siblings, Thomas Smallwood, Lucille Johnson, Eva Smallwood, and Janet Pack. Also survived by 13 grandchild­ren, 21 great-grandchild­ren, and a host of sister-inlaws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara, Shirley, and Jenny; his brothers, Champ, Cecil, Francis, Edward, and Daniel; and by his children, Yvonne Smallwood, Barbara Ann Wood, and James Jr.

Friends received on Saturday, June 4, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Chapel Point Catholic Church. Interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.
