Thanks for supporting veterans museum

- Lawrence Abell, Newburg The writer is the president of the Maryland Veterans Museum at Patriot Park.

On June 2, the Veteran’s Committee at Swan Point sponsored a golf outing for the benefit of the Maryland Veterans Museum at Patriot Park in Glasva. It was the fourth fundraiser that the Swan Point community has had for our museum. So many individuals and businesses help support this endeavor that to try and list all would be an injustice to those we might overlook. We would like to single out the staff and pro shop under general manager of Swan Point Ryan Meredith who worked extremely hard to insure a first class event. We had several major sponsors and all are sincerely appreciated.

Equally special thanks to the individuals who serve on this Veteran’s Committee for the dedication and hard work that has been the catalyst for ongoing recognition of our museum. If you have not had the opportunity to visit our Veterans Museum, please do so. Its collections reflect the sacrifices of all who served in all the services of our country and in all our conflicts since our existence. What is an ongoing labor of love by volunteers to honor Charles countians is truly remarkable.

The next fundraiser being planned for the Museum by the Swan Point Veteran’s Committee is a “Night for the Museum” on Oct. 21 featuring the “Band of Gold” at the Swan Point Club House.

Again, our sincere thanks to all who participated in any way in the success to these fund raisers.
