Rotary Club of Charlotte Hall and Stephen’s Fund award $20,000 in scholarships
The Rotary Club of Charlotte Hall and Stephen’s Fund awarded $20,000 in scholarships to 20 college-bound students at the club’s general meeting on June 21.
“The club’s scholarship program demonstrates our commitment to the St. Mar y’s County community,” said Joe Slater, club president. “This year’s recipients of the Service Above Self Scholarship are dedicated to serving others and understand the importance of giving back to the community. We are pleased to invest in the success of these future leaders.”
Speaking to scholarship recipients, Rotarian Steve Mattingly said he and his wife, Shirley, established Stephen’s Fund and the Stephen D. Mattingly II Memorial Scholarship in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Charlotte Hall to preserve the memory of their son, Stephen, while making an impact in the community.
