Work­force board writes four-year plan, look for com­ments

The South­ern Mary­land Work­force De­vel­op­ment Board, a di­vi­sion of Tri-County Coun­cil for South­ern Mary­land, re­cently re­leased its sug­gested four-year com­pre­hen­sive plan and is ac­cept­ing public com­ments on it through Sept. 29.

An act of Congress, which went into ef­fect July 1, re­quires each work­force de­vel­op­ment area de­velop and sub­mit a fouryear plan to the gov­er­nor of the state, ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease. The South­ern Mary­land Work­force De­vel­op­ment Area is named JobSource and serves Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s coun­ties.

The plan, de­vel­oped along­side a state com­pre­hen­sive plan, pro­poses meth­ods of train­ing and serv­ing job seek­ers and em­ploy­ers in the re­gion.

The strate­gic vi­sion is to cre­ate a skilled work­force that meets the needs of busi­nesses and strength­ens the lo­cal econ­omy.
