Workforce board writes four-year plan, look for comments
The Southern Maryland Workforce Development Board, a division of Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland, recently released its suggested four-year comprehensive plan and is accepting public comments on it through Sept. 29.
An act of Congress, which went into effect July 1, requires each workforce development area develop and submit a fouryear plan to the governor of the state, according to a press release. The Southern Maryland Workforce Development Area is named JobSource and serves Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties.
The plan, developed alongside a state comprehensive plan, proposes methods of training and serving job seekers and employers in the region.
The strategic vision is to create a skilled workforce that meets the needs of businesses and strengthens the local economy.
