Wood­lands cel­e­brate 50th an­niver­sary

James R. Wood­land and Judith A. (Thomas) re­cently cel­e­brated their 50th an­niver­sary. The Charles County na­tives were mar­ried March 11, 1967, in La Plata at Sa­cred Heart Catholic Church.

James Royce is a grad­u­ate of Pomon­key High School be­fore join­ing the U.S. Army. Judith Ann is a grad­u­ate of La Plata High School.

They are the proud par­ents of two chil­dren James R. Wood­land Jr. and Meli­cia T. Wood­land-West, son-in-law La­mont A. West, a grand­child Al­fred Durham Jr., and a great-grand­child Ai­dan W.R. Durham.

Both are re­tired from the D.C. and Fed­eral gov­ern­ment re­spec­tively. They are ac­tive mem­bers of their com­mu­nity and cur­rently serve as de­vout mem­bers of Union Bethel Church in Brandy­wine. The cou­ple at­tribute the suc­cess of their mar­riage to prayer, trust and pa­tience.
