Re­nais­sance fes­ti­val held on cam­pus over week­end

The Col­lege of South­ern Mary­land took a trip back in time the week­end of April 22, as the lawn in front of the Fine Arts Build­ing was trans­formed into tour­na­ment grounds for the Barony of Dun Car­raig, a chap­ter of the So­ci­ety for Cre­ative Anachro­nism cov­er­ing South­ern Mary­land.

The So­ci­ety for Cre­ative Anachro­nism, or SCA, is an in­ter­na­tional non­profit ed­u­ca­tional or­ga­ni­za­tion ded­i­cated to the preser­va­tion, re­search and recre­ation of the arts, skills and tra­di­tions of pre-17th cen­tury Europe, ac­cord­ing to its web­site.

Cloth­ing, arts and crafts, ar­mor, food, games and more were on dis­play at the event, as well as mu­sic and sword fight­ing demon­stra­tions.
