Golfers wanted
White Plains Senior Golf Fellowship will hold its preseason meeting at 8 a.m. March 27 at the White Plains Golf Course clubhouse.
The fellowship welcomes all men and women ages 50 and older to join. It plays every Tuesday from April 3 to Oct. 9 and play a format with a variety of weekly games, several tournaments, a club championship and end-of-year banquet.

Softball teams wanted
The Southern Maryland All Faith League is currently looking for interested men’s and coed softball teams for its spring season starting April 2.

Softball tournament
Charles County Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism will hold a men’s Class E Early Bird Softball Tournament on April 7 and April 8 at Laurel Springs Regional Park.
Teams are guaranteed four games in bracket style tournament. There is a maximum of 20 teams. The cost is $250 per team.

Golf clinics
Charles County Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism will offer golf clinics for men, women, and youth at White Plains Golf Course.
Learn the basic skills needed to become a confident golfer. Sessions include proper golf course etiquette, safety, rules, grip, stance, posture, chipping, putting, irons, woods and onthe-course instruction.
Men’s golf clinics will be held from 5 to 6:15 p.m. April 9 to 12 and April 16 to 20. The cost is $80.
Women’s golf clinics will be held from 5 to 6:15 p.m. May 7 to 10 and May 14 to 17. The cost is $80.
Junior golf clinics will be held from 8 to 9:15 a.m. June 25 to 28 (for children 8 to 12) and July 9 to 12 (for children 13 to 17). The cost is $60. Clinic includes instruction, contests and prizes.
Tegistration is required. Maximum class size is eight participants. Golf clinic participants will receive a complimentary round of golf.

SMCM seeking hall of fame nominees
St. Mary’s College of Maryland Department of Athletics and Recreation is seeking help in nominating worthy individuals for the St. Mary’s Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2018. This year’s induction ceremony will take place on Oct. 19.
Nominations must be received by the selection committee no later than April 15, and the Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee will make its final decision on all nominees by June 1. The nomination form can be found at www.smcm.edu/ alumni/awards/hall-fame-legends-nomination-form.
At least two letters of nomination need to be submitted from individuals who know or knew the nominee well and are aware of his/her achievements and quality of character. The letter(s) should include not only statistical highlights of the nominee, but also any awards or recognition earned while at St. Mary’s; any awards or recognition they have earned since graduation as well as a description of their character, their leadership ability; and any other intangibles that they may have contributed as a member of the team.
