Open house at Fire Department
Meet the firefighters and Sparky the Fire Dog at this weekend’s Marysville Fire Department Open House Celebration and Pancake breakfast during National Fire Prevention Week.
The open house, from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday at 107 Ninth St., includes tours of the fire station. Admission is free.
The pancake breakfast, $5, includes sausage, fruit, coffee and juice. Money raised benefits the Firefighters Burn Institute. and Walnut Street.

First 5 Express, for parents of children ages 5 years and younger, brings its bilingual tour with a variety of hands-on activities to Marysville and Gridley.
The statewide First 5 California program emphasizes the importance of talking, reading and singing in everyday life and its impact on a child’s early brain development.
The program is in Marysville from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday at 303 Second St.
It’s visit in Gridley is from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Railroad Park, at Washington and Hazel streets.
Activities for parents include ways to keep their children engaged and making healthy lifestyle choices.
The tour also includes story time sessions and a child-friendly library.
The visits are co-sponsored by First 5 Yuba and First 5 Butte County in their respective areas.
