Three held in burglar y attempt
Three Olivehurst men were arrested Friday morning after allegedly attempting to burglarize a home.
Ian E. Oliver, 40, Edward L. Cole, 45, and Brent P. McGowen, 37, were arrested in the 8500 block of Highway 20 around 9:30 a.m. after residents called the Sheriff’s Department.
The residents held off the suspects until officers arrived, said Sutter County Undersheriff Jeff Pierce.
Pierce said the suspects left the home when they heard sirens, but were greeted by officers.
Oliver was arrested on suspicion of vandalism, burglary and conspiracy. Cole was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a weapon (a stick), burglary and conspiracy. McGowen was arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy.
Pierce said the incident may have been in connection with a money dispute with the residents days earlier.
All three men were booked into Sutter County Jail. Bail for Cole and McGowen was set at $15,000 each. Oliver was no longer in custody Friday afternoon.
