FBI joins hunt for missing woman

- By Rachel Rosenbaum rrosenbaum@appealdemocrat.com

Almost a week after Gridley resident Alycia Yeoman disappeared, the FBI joined the investigation and on Thursday searched the residence in Yuba City where she was last seen.

A neighbor, who asked not to be identified, said law enforcement had arrived at the home in the 1800 block of Romero Street late Wednesday night.

At least three FBI personnel – clad in jackets emblazoned Evidence Response Team and shoe covers – were seen entering and exiting the home Thursday afternoon.

Law enforcement agencies have been tight-lipped about the

investigation. An FBI spokesperson referred media calls to the Gridley-Biggs Police Department, the lead agency. She said the FBI is assisting in the case but not commenting.

An email and a voicemail to Gridley Police Chief Dean Price went unanswered Thursday. The department’s Facebook page has not been updated since Tuesday. A voicemail for a Butte County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson also went unanswered Thursday.

At the same time, agencies from all over the region were gathered at the Live Oak Recreation Park, just a few hundred yards away from where Yeoman’s truck was found days earlier.

Groups searched the area on foot, with canines, on boats, on horseback, in ATVs and by helicopter. Search crews were represented by El Dorado County, Butte County, Plumas County, Yolo County, Sacramento County, Yuba County, Tehama County, Sutter County and the California Rescue Dog Association.

Yeoman, 20, is a Yuba College student who was last seen March 30 around 11 p.m. driving her green 1998 Toyota Tacoma truck. She missed work at the Gridley McDonald’s on Friday and missed her shift at Starbucks on Saturday.

The truck was first noticed by farmworkers in a Live Oak orchard Friday morning, but they didn’t report it to police until Monday when it hadn’t moved all weekend. Yeoman’s cellphone was discovered nearby.

Yeoman is 5-foot-4, 125 pounds, with brown hair and blonde highlights. She wears braces, has a nose ring and a small mole near her left eye. Anyone with information on Yeoman or her location is asked to call Gridley-Biggs police at 8465670.
