Dawn Hartman was told to “come on down” as a contestant on the CBS game show “The Price is Right” and walked away with $38,959 in cash and prizes, winning the game.

Hartman, a Plumas Lake resident, attended a taping of the show in March with her family. The episode with her appearance aired Thursday.

She was invited to “come on down” to contestant’s row at the top of the show, but couldn’t make it up on stage to play a pricing game until the second half.

Hartman correctly guessed the value of a trip for two to San Diego to stay three nights at the Hard Rock Hotel at the beginning of the second half.

She played the pricing game Grand Game, in which she had to pick grocery items priced below a target price. She unfortunately did not win the game, which would have netted her $10,000. But she still had the trip to San Diego.

Hartman then spun the wheel and got a dollar, which earned her $1,000 and a trip to the Showcase Showdown.

“There was this amazing lady who was up there with me,” she said. “She was the top contestant, so she got to pick which Showcase she wanted. She bid on the first Showcase, and I got the second.”

The second Showcase was a fourwheeler, a trip to Australia for six nights and a new Mazda Miata.

The other woman in the Showcase’s bid was off by several thousand. Hartman’s bid, meanwhile, was off by only $850, and she won her Showcase, taking home nearly $40,000 in cash and prizes.

“I had a very good experience,” Hartman said. “Everyone there is unbelievable. They make you feel like family.”

A longtime fan of “The Price is Right,” Hartman said being on the show “made it seem so real. You see it on TV, but when you’re there, it gives you a brighter perspective.”
