Marysville Kiwanis Club raises funds for schoolchildren

The Marysville Kiwanis Club organizes events to raise money for local schoolchildren, and the biggest fundraiser for the past 30 years has been its annual Italian feast.

“Italian Night is the grand daddy of all the events we do,” said John Nicoletti, a Kiwanis member. “When you come to this event, it’s like a class reunion. It’s usually hard to get everyone seated for dinner because everyone comes and socializes with friends.”

Organizers said this year’s event, held at the YubaSutter Fairgrounds on Saturday evening, was on track to be one of the best yet.

Nicoletti has been involved with the club since 1990. Since the event’s beginning in 1987, he said more than 25,000 people have been fed and hundreds of thousands
