Sutter County supervisors fire department head who was arrested
The Sutter County Board of Supervisors voted this week to fire its Development Services director arrested in February on suspicion of felony voter fraud, perjury and other offenses.
In a 3-2 vote, supervisors terminated Danelle Stylos, who had been placed on a paid administrative leave by the board in February.
Supervisors Dan Flores, Mat Conant and Larry Munger voted to dismiss her; Jim Whiteaker and Ron Sullenger dissented.
County Administrator Scott Mitnick said the decision to dismiss Stylos was done after an internal investigation was completed.
According to an email from Mitnick, Stylos’ salary was $145,497.66. Mitnick said Stylos was entitled to two weeks compensation at time of ter- mination.
Mitnick said the County Counsel’s Office oversaw the internal investigation, conducted by an independent third party. Mitnick said the findings or identity of the third party could not be divulged.
He said the board’s decision had nothing to do with a separate criminal investigation being conducted by the District Attorney’s Office. He said the DA has not shared information about that investigation.
District Attorney Amanda Hopper said by email the investigation into Stylos is ongoing and anticipates a criminal complaint will be filed before Stylos’ arraignment on June 26.
Stylos was arrested by agents with the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office on Feb. 1.
She was booked into Sutter County Jail and posted $25,000 bail.
