Sacramento woman arrested in injury crash
A Sacramento woman was arrested in Sutter County on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and causing serious injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Lyudmila V. Yasinskiy, 38, was driving her 2015 Toyota Highlander west on Catlett Road on Friday at 12:27 a.m. approaching Highway 99 when Tou M. Xiong, 26, of Oroville, was also approaching the intersection northbound, the CHP said.
Yasinskiy pulled directly into Xiong’s path, and the front of his 2016 Toyota Prius broadsided the driver’s side of the Highlander as Yasinskiy attempted to make a left turn. Both vehicles came to a rest within the center median just north of the intersection.
It was determined Yasinskiy was driving under the influence and was arrested. Due to her major injuries, she was transported to Rideout Memorial Hospital.
She was released Tuesday, according to the Highway Patrol, and was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI resulting in serious injuries.
Xiong was transported to UC Davis Medical Center for major injuries. There wasn’t any word on his condition. Yasinskiy’s passenger, Yevgeniya A. Ginchencko, 38, also of Sacramento, complained of some pain, but was not transported to the hospital.
A rabies-infected bat was found on children’s play equipment in the 700 block of Bogue Road on Friday.
According to a Yuba City press release, the bat was collected by Sutter Animal Services Authority and taken to the Sutter County Health department to be tested.
It is not determined at this time if two children under the age of 3 were exposed, according to the release.
Animal services personnel ask that they be contacted immediately if there is a live or dead bat inside or outside homes at 8227375. Never touch bats, they warn, especially if they appear to be sick or dead, and keep pets’ vaccinations up to date.
