“I want to get my degree in ag law, go into politics and then run for office,” Khan said.

Gabby Romero is heading the opposite direction to Portland State University to study pediatrics.

“I have six siblings and 20-plus cousins – I’m always around kids, I love kids and love helping people,” Romero said.

Neonatal nursing is the specific field she wants to get into. She will spend the summer working with children at the Live Oak pool as a lifeguard.

“The thing about Live Oak High School is that I feel at home here – I feel the love vibe,” Romero said.

Principal Tony Walton was feeling the love as he pumped up the graduates at the school’s gymnasium before the ceremony.

“This class has demonstrated determination and grit and has set the bar academically for Live Oak High School,” Walton said.

“This class epitomizes Live Oak High School’s ‘Goodness and Grit’ motto. These kids have fought through obstacles and failures and have proven to themselves that success is a byproduct of hard work. I’m excited for their future.”

Dave Brockman stood with family as they watched his daughter, Brianna, graduate.

“She worked really hard and got to the top of the class,” Brockman said.

“In September, she’s off to UCLA, and we’re very proud of what she’s accomplished at Live Oak High School.”
