Motorcyclist arrested in Olivehurst after chase
A pursuit of a reported stolen motorcycle ended in Olivehurst with the suspect arrested at gunpoint.
David A. Brown, 33, transient, of Marysville, led Yuba County sheriff’s detectives on a pursuit Wednesday morning after detectives in an unmarked car learned the motorcycle Brown was riding was reported stolen out of Stockton, according to spokesperson Leslie Carbah.
The detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the stolen motorcycle around 10:30 a.m. on Island Avenue. Brown failed to yield and fled at a high speed – over 80 mph – crossed over double yellow lines, passed vehicles on the right, ran stop signs and at times drove in the wrong directional lane.
The pursuit lasted about four minutes, Carbah said, and followed various Olivehurst streets until reaching a dead end on Sixth Street. Brown left the motorcycle and continued to flee on foot northbound along the railroad tracks and into a ditch, before he was taken into custody at gunpoint.
He complained of leg pain and was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and cleared for booking into Yuba County Jail on suspicion of fleeing a pursuing peace officer in a willful disregard for the safety of persons or property; vehicle theft; and driving with a suspended or revoked license. His bail was set at $50,000.
