felt it was perfect for me because I love make-up.”

Leal said she plans on attending Sutter Beauty College. She said she is proud of passing a tough senior year.

“It feels good, but it’s going to be weird not coming to (Yuba City High School) every morning,” she said.

She and her friends decided to decorate their caps to express their individuality.

Seniors Oscar Aleman and Elyse Walker, friends since freshman year Spanish class, embraced as they spotted each other while lining up.

“I am very excited,” Walker said. “It’s been a great experience here meeting friends.”

Both Aleman and Walker will be attending Yuba College next year.

Martin Ramirez, former Yuba City High principal, said the senior class is full of outstanding young adults.

“They make being an educator a worthwhile and honorable profession,” he said.

Current principal Robert Pogue said he is excited about his students going into adulthood.

“I get excited thinking about them going into adulthood and thinking about their futures,” Pogue said.

Pogue has served as principal of the high school for the past few months.

He said there will be many challenges and opportunities ahead for the class of 2017, but he looks forward to their successful return.

“It’s a great thing to watch kids grow up,” Pogue said. “It’s just fun to celebrate with them.”
