Katrina Lane, Marysville,

track and field Lane chose Sonoma State University, where she will compete in track and field, after meeting with the coach and getting a sense of family from the team.

Additionally, Lane has relatives in the area and looks forward to visiting San Francisco. She will major in nursing.

Lane was a two-time GEL champion in the pole vault, winning the title again this year with a mark of 7 feet, 6 inches. She also played volleyball for the Indians. Parker Jenks, Marysville,

track and field Jenks, the GEL’s Outstanding Lineman of the Year in football and the SacJoaquin Section champion in the shot put, had a tough decision to make before deciding to head to Cal Poly on a track scholarship.

“I made the decision in early January. I was still on the fence because I had offers for football and track from multiple schools, and it really came down to when Cal Poly contacted me,” Jenks said. “I went down and visited the campus and I loved the coaching staff. It was my dream school, and so I decided that’s what I wanted to do.”

Jenks played three years of varsity football for the Indians and was a two-time All-GEL performer after excelling on the offensive and defensive line. He was also the league champion in the shot put and the discus the last two years. Cason Reyes, Sutter,

track and field Reyes will travel across the country to run track and field for University of Jamestown in North Dakota.

Reyes said his decision was not about leaving this area, but rather about the best educational possibilities presented to him.

As for track and field, Reyes said he wants to get faster and become a better athlete. He will major in kinesiology.

This spring, Reyes helped the Huskies’ 4x100 relay team finish third in the entire Northern Sec- tion, and also posted strong marks in the 200 and the long jump.

Also a running back on Sutter’s football team for the last two years, he helped the Huskies win their third straight Northern Section Division III title in 2016. Chase Tarr, Marysville,

track and field An A-D All Area selection in both football and baseball, Tarr said he made his decision to attend UC Santa Barbara and throw the javelin after staring out of the fourth floor of the school’s new library. The view of mountains on one side and ocean on the other made his decision simple.

Tarr said he hopes to get in a good workout program and hopefully fill the void left by three seniors in the program.

Tarr will major in Physics and join forces with his sister and fellow javelin thrower, Holly Tarr for the Gauchos.

As the Indians’ starting quarterback the last two years, Tarr was named the GEL’s Offensive Player of the Year last fall while leading Marysville to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V semifinals.

He is also a four-year varsity starter and twotime All-GEL selection in baseball, and has been selected to play in the Optimist High School Baseball All-Star Game.

The javelin came naturally for Tarr, who placed 15th in the nation at Junior Olympics after just picking it up about a month earlier.

He also played basketball all four years at Marysville and competed for the school’s sportsman’s club. Hannah Williamson, Marysville, volleyball Williamson will travel together with Ellenson to Redding, as the pair will play volleyball for Simpson University.

“I chose Simpson University because I have a great opportunity of joining the volleyball team and furthering my education in the nursing field,” Williamson said.

Williamson said she expects to further her skills in volleyball and make new friends while doing it. She was an honorable mention for the AllGEL team in 2016 for the Indians.
