Re: Olivehurst post office

- Yuba City Olivehurst

Is the U.S. Postal Service trying to close the Olivehurst post office? How do they determine which offices to close? Is one of the factors the condition of the building and grounds? Is this why they are allowing the Olivehurst post office to deteriorate?

It would be a hardship for the residents of Olivehurst if their post office were to close. But why else would the USPS allow our post office to get so run down?

There are many issues. Here are four: grounds are overgrown with weeds, trash; flag is not flown due to broken line; inside walls need to be scrubbed and painted; and there are missing, chipped and stained tiles.

If they cannot keep the grounds watered and weeded, put in rock. If USPS cannot afford to have walls painted and floor repaired, perhaps they should contact a community group of volunteers for assistance.

Residents have complained many times over the past five years to no avail. The USPS doesn’t listen to a single person, but the voices of many may get a response.

Contact the district office, contact your local and state representatives, contact the news media stations starting with channel 13 and your local paper.

We want to know when are the issues going to be taken care of, or is the USPS looking for an excuse to close the Olivehurst post office?
