GOLD SOX: Travel to play Medford today

-

The Gold Sox (8-15 before Monday) used three pitchers – Cole Van Den Helder, Noah Sills and Cruz Daddario – through the first 12 innings. They combined to strike out 13 and surrender seven hits. The Heat countered with four pitchers over that span, including starter Jack Rolston, who struck out eight and no-hit the Gold Sox in four innings. Marysville had just four hits through 12 innings, one each by Darrell Doll, Beau McClintock, Justin Cooney-Sylk and Jason Dicochea.

Neither team produced a hit until the Heat’s Bailey Zimmer led off the top of the fifth inning with a single off of Sills. Sills came on in the top of the fourth in relief of Van Den Helder, who struck out four but also walked four in 3 ⁄ innings.

The Gold Sox take to the road today to face the Medford Rogues. Yuba City is also back in action after a two-day break. The Bears gain residence of Colusa Casino Stadium for the first game of a threegame series against Portland. Both games today begin at 7:05 p.m.
