Medford recorded four hits and took advantage of two Marysville errors to score five times in the bottom of the first, and used four hits and another error by the Gold Sox to strike for four more runs to open up a commanding 9-1 lead in the second.

The Rogues upped the lead to 10-1 with another run in the fifth.

Devin Pettengill led off the game by reaching on an error and later scored on another Medford error to give Marysville a shortlived 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Gold Sox made the score 10-3 in the sixth on an RBI single by Shea Sbranti and an RBI groundout by Quinn Ayers.

The Rogues answered by scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth to up the lead to 12-3.

Limited to three hits over the first seven innings, the Gold Sox rallied for five runs in the eighth to make the score look respectabl­e.

Marysville scored its runs on RBI singles by Pettengill and Beau McClintock, and basesloade­d walks to Brock Ephan and Justin CooneySylk. Another run scored on Medford’s fifth error of the night.

McClintock accounted for two of the Gold Sox’s six hits and Pettengill scored twice to lead the way offensivel­y.

Ryan McCarthy took the loss, allowing four hits and five runs over ⁄ of an inning. Only two of the runs he allowed was earned.

The loss snapped Marysville’s two-game winning streak.

The Gold Sox (9-16) and Rogues (18-8) continue their three-game set today in Medford.
