RIVERS: Boat patrols for waterways

Sutter and Yuba counties have boat patrols and are responsible for the waterways. Sampson said they work closely with the Yuba City and Linda fire departments, both of which have swift water rescue teams and specialized equipment to assist on rescues.

“The water has been up and down, and there are sand bars along the river, and that can cause issues,” Sampson said. “One of the issues is that if boat gets beached, it can cause injuries,”

Sampson said there are a few things people should keep in mind while enjoying their time in the water. Don’t drink and drive a boat. Have life preservers for each person on the boat.

Bring a fire extinguisher.
