Bears cruise; Gold Sox falter

The Yuba City Bears piled on the runs and kept the opposing offense from getting their own across, as they defeated the Lincoln Potters 15-0 at Colusa Casino Stadium on Sunday.

Winning pitcher Danny Chavez went eight innings, scattering seven hits and walking a pair. Chavez collected two strikeouts.

The Sacramento native’s socreless performanc­e lowered his ERA to 2.32.

Bryon Bugarin pitched in relief of Chavez to keep the shutout in place.

Bear’s leadoff hitter Shaq Robinson went 3 for 5 at the plate with four RBI.

Also with a four RBI performanc­e, was Yuba City native, T.J. Dove. Dove was 2 for 5 at the plate.

With a total of 13 hits and 15 walks, the Bears offense forced the Potters to use five different pitchers.

Chico 6, Gold Sox 3 The Marysville Gold Sox scored a pair of runs in the final inning of Sunday’s game with the Chico Heat, but ultimately fell short by a final score of 6-3.

The Heat jumped to a 2-0 lead in the third inning, scoring on Gold Sox starter Lincoln Clayton.

The Heat would charge two more runs to Clayton before his night was over.

Clayton finished the game with eight strikeouts through five innings of work. Clayton allowed six hits and two walks.

Mitchell Tyse drove in all of the Gold Sox’s runs and went 2 for 4. Tyse’s hit a 2-run home run in the ninth inning.

Leadoff hitter Justin CooneySilk went 3 for 5 at the plate.

Jason Dicochea had a 2 for 3 performanc­e and scored twice.
