“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienabl­e Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

This is probably the most powerful and revolution­ary statement that not only laid the strong foundation of the USA but inspired the zeal for freedom worldwide.

I am an American by choice; though I was not born here, I was drawn to this bastion of democracy due to its core values.

“The land of the free and the home of the brave” has been my favorite line from a song, and Americans have proved it to be true so many times. A great example of this was when American brothers fought against brothers to end the evil of slavery.

American core values of liberty, equality, and self-governance have inspired freedomlov­ing people all over the world. We agree to disagree but at the same time are willing to shed our blood to protect our liberty. We as a nation have protected the world from nefarious designs of fascism, apartheid, communism and radicalism. Our fight is still on against the forces of violence and terrorism.

America is rich and strong because we respect hard work, integrity, accountabi­lity, sharing, and trust in God. These cherished ideals of our nation have led to the greatest innovation­s and inventions by mankind ever in the history of human civilizati­on. The rest of world owes to the American ingenuity for inventing modern miracles of food surplus (modern agricultur­e), internet, transporta­tion, vaccinatio­ns, medicines and innumerous technologi­es.

America will remain the greatest nation on this planet as long as we continue to remain true to our core values. Being a strong and powerful nation we have the responsibi­lity to protect and preserve our planet from modern evils of pollution, destructio­n of environmen­t, hate, and terrorism.

So in ending, I would use the words of my hero, Abraham Lincoln:

“This nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom …. shall not perish from the earth.” God bless America, my home sweet home.
